Art helps anchor life in Pòtoprens (Port-au-Prince), as people transmute materials, ideas, and memory into expressive forms, including beloved papier-mâché festival puppets. Here, a puppet-master hefts works in progress, in a moment a syncretic dialog.

All proceeds from this and other Haiti prints will go to the New Vision community art school in Port-au-Prince, where founder Lesly Pierre-Paul and other painters teach kids to channel their own self-expression through techniques informed by traditional vodou culture and and iconography.
